Rich is a 1973 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds a M.S. in Special Education from Indiana University. He graduated from Villanova Law School in 1982. Prior to law school, Rich was a teacher in, and then director of, programs for mentally handicapped children. Rich began his law career as a labor attorney, representing hospitals and long-term care facilities.
Since 1986, all of Rich’s work has been devoted to the litigation of medical malpractice claims, including defense of hospitals, physicians and nurses, as well as litigation involving medications, medical devices, anatomical donations. In addition Rich has counseled health care clients in such areas as non-consensual emergency treatment and aids-related issues. He has given presentations to physicians on topics such as the elements of a medical negligence case, medical documentation errors, deposition skills and the law of informed consent. Most importantly, Rich has tried many cases in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, as well as in our surrounding counties, federal court and in Delaware.
Rich is involved in many community issues, having served on the Board of Trustees of Rosemont College, where he was Chair. He has also served as Chair of the Board of Trustees at St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia and as the president of the Narberth Athletic Association
