William M. Connor joined the firm in October, 2008, after founding and leading his own Philadelphia-based law firm. Mr. Connor began his legal career as an Assistant Solicitor for the U.S. Department of Labor, practicing in the United States District Courts in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. In that position, Mr. Connor was responsible for prosecuting union election violations under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act in cases involving both the United Mine Workers Union and the United Steel Workers Union. Since then, Mr. Connor has handled a wide variety of commercial and personal injury matters, including product liability and mass tort litigation, construction litigation, liquor liability, transportation law, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, employment litigation and general casualty/premises liability.
Mr. Connor defends manufacturers and sellers in product liability litigation involving a variety of machines, trucking and automotive products, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, aviation products, asbestos and consumer products. He has litigated matters involving allegations of manufacturing and construction design defect, inadequate warning, exposure to toxic chemicals and worksite accidents. Mr. Connor has extensive experience representing trucking companies and common carriers, as well as motor vehicle and fleet insurers and their insureds. His practice also includes the representation of bars, taverns, restaurants, hotels and clubs in liquor liability cases. Mr. Connor litigates employment-related matters, as well as a wide variety of insurance coverage issues, representing insurers in declaratory judgment actions to enforce exclusions and other limitations of coverage.
Mr. Connor has served as a mediator and arbitrator on personal injury and commercial matters as a member of the American Arbitration Association – Commercial Arbitration Tribunal. He is a frequent lecturer for insurance companies on Pennsylvania’s product liability law, liquor liability law and joint and several liability law. He has served as Judge Pro Tempore in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia, as a member of the Brehon Law Society and as a past member of the Temple Inn of Court.
Mr. Connor is admitted to practice in all courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal and Third Circuits, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
